M. SELES/A. Mauresmo 7-5, 6-3

Q. Since Rome you knew that she was difficult, but were you surprised today at the beginning of the match?

AMELIE MAURESMO: Yes, I knew that. But I think I reacted much better today. She went very quickly to 3-1, but I was very much in the match all the same. I think it's a match where I missed opportunities. I had many opportunities, and I missed a number of very easy points on my forehand. Maybe I was a bit tense. I missed opportunities.

Q. Do you think the level of the match was the same as Rome? Can you compare the two?

AMELIE MAURESMO: Yes, I think it was a very good level, as well. But the conditions were very different. I feel, in fact, sorry today, which I didn't feel in Rome.

Q. Is that your feeling in general for your tennis or for this specific match?

AMELIE MAURESMO: I think my tennis has been good so far. I was leading 40-15 in both cases, but I'm missing opportunities, as I said. With players like her, she is No. 3, that is not the best thing to do.

Q. Tactically what did you change in your game from Rome, compared with Rome?

AMELIE MAURESMO: I made her move more. This time I was trying really to move her a lot. I think she was tired at the end of the match. That was my idea.

The other thing was to try and avoid her getting too much into the match at the beginning.

Q. Do you have a negative balance sheet for your tournament?

AMELIE MAURESMO: Yes, I'm disappointed today. I had three very good matches.

I had a good clay court season all the same. I think I have improved. I think my mental disposition has improved a lot, so this is very positive.

But tonight, to tell you the truth, I know I had the possibility to win the match, and I did not.

Q. (Inaudible)?

AMELIE MAURESMO: Not at all. Not at all. Maybe you could think that, but this is not the case. I knew I was playing tonight. It's true that the previous match could have gone into a fourth set, but I was mentally ready to play today. To play on the central court is always something very heavy. You cannot be indifferent to this pressure.

Q. Was it more pressure than with Hingis last year?

AMELIE MAURESMO: Oh, yes. You can't compare. There was a real tension. It was totally different, totally different.

What I need to do is to get used to this sort of situation. Maybe the cases today where I missed by just a little nothing was due to the pressure. I have to get used to it. It's fantastic pressure, but I have to get used to it.

Q. So you are disappointed because you lost; disappointed not to play against Mary. How do you see the match between Monica and Mary?

AMELIE MAURESMO: They're going to play hard, both of them. I know them both well. I don't know. Difficult to predict what is going to be the result.

Q. You started again in Bol. Do you think you have improved a lot since Bol?

AMELIE MAURESMO: Yes, since Bol I have made a lot of progress in my game, in my tennis. I think I'm much calmer, for instance, in the way I play, much more collected and focused than I was in Bol. Mentally I feel much better.

If you compare Paris with Bol or even Rome, you can see the difference. I can see myself the difference between the various matches in Paris.

I think it's going to be extremely helpful for the rest of the season. We will see on grass what it will be.

Q. What is your schedule?

AMELIE MAURESMO: Eastbourne and then Wimbledon.
