Amelie Mauresmo donated her doubles prize money from the Italian Open to an injured child in Rome. The child was injured in a car accident at the end of
January and suffered a spinal injury, leaving him paralyzed and able
to only move his arms and hands. He remains hospitalized and breathes
with the help of a machine. Signs were posted in the player's lounge
and locker room asking for donations. Mauresmo's donation amounted
to $6,750.
